Pay per call or pay per minute – what’s the difference?

With per-minute pricing, you’re billed for the time a receptionist spends on each call. Many providers also round up, so a 61-second call is billed as two minutes. The longer the call, the more you pay.

With pay-per-call, every answered call counts once – whether it’s a quick message or a longer conversation. Your plan includes a set number of calls each month, so you know your costs upfront.

Pay-per-call suits brief, simple calls. Per-minute suits longer, more detailed calls (if that’s what you need, please note we don’t round up like other providers).

We offer both per-call and per-minute pricing, so you can switch at any time, with no lock-in contract.

Yes.  Your calls are handled by our US-based reception team across Arizona, Florida, North Carolina and Missouri between 5am and 7pm MST every day, ensuring your customers experience professional American voices representing your brand across core business hours.  An after-hours surcharge applies to calls outside 5am-7pm Monday to Friday or on a US Federal Holiday. US-based receptionists are still available to answer calls between 5am and 7pm MST Saturday and Sunday. However, overnight calls are handled by our equally skilled, English-speaking team in Australia – trained to the same high standards and delivering the same quality of service around the clock.

No. Most answering services round every call up to the nearest minute, which can significantly increase your costs. For example, a 61-second call would be billed as 2 minutes.

On ReceptionHQ per-minute plans, you’re charged for the exact seconds taken for managing each call. So if a receptionist takes 61 seconds for handling a call, you’re billed for 1 minute and 1 second.

On plans with included minutes, we deduct the exact time used from your remaining monthly allocation.
